Language or family reasons often make it difficult for parents – especially immigrant parents – to support their children in the way that they would actually like to.
This can result in children not fully exploiting or being able to fully exploit their educational possibilities. The Diesterweg Scholarship supports children who have the potential for higher school education, but whose German language skills need to be improved.
Together with their parents these children are supported for two years on their educational path from primary school into secondary school in classes four and five. The aim is to enable the children to pursue a school career appropriate to their talents and to put their parents in a position to support them in the best way possible.
The ‘Diesterweg Scholarship’ is a project run the Polytechnic Society Foundation in cooperation with several partners, including the Department for Multicultural Affairs.
