Information on the integration courses
On 1st January 2005 the Immigration Act came into force. Pursuant to this the Federal Ministry for Migration and Refugees began for the first time offering obligatory language and orientation courses for migrants in all parts of Germany. The integration courses are aimed both at new immigrants and at people who have already been living in Germany for a relatively long time.
The integration programme includes:
- 600 - 900 hours of basic level German tuition
- 45 hours of orientation course tuition, including information on German politics, legal system, culture and history, with a final test
- The ‘German test for immigrants’
- Advice from migration advice centres for adults and from youth migration services.
