End of Ramadan, the Muslim month of fasting

Mayor Feldmann and Integration Head Dr. Eskandari-Grünberg also celebrated the breaking of the fast

At the end of Ramadan, the Islamic month of fasting, on 19th August, Mayor Peter Feldmann and Head of Integration Dr. Eskandari-Grünberg again underlined the City of Frankfurt’s affinity with its Muslim communities. Symbolically representing acceptance of the many invitations received, the two had jointly attended the Abu Bakr Mosque in Hausen and shared there in the breaking of the fast with numerous clubs and societies.

“This visit was very important to us. We wanted to acknowledge and encourage the social and voluntary work done by the clubs and societies,” said Feldmann and Eskandari-Grünberg. “It is important to us to send out a signal: we take each other seriously, we belong together, as citizens and democrats. We want to show appreciation in our public life for the major holy days of our large religious communities, because they are important to a lot of people. The aims of our Frankfurt integration strategy are mutual respect and open-mindedness in support of coexistence on the basis of equal rights,” said Feldmann und Eskandari-Grünberg. “And we will do our utmost to ensure that this becomes reality in every area of life.”
